The Status of Australian Fish Stocks Reports brings together available biological, catch and effort information to determine the status of Australia’s key wild catch fish stocks
Robust and transparent reporting
The reports are based on a consistent national reporting framework developed collaboratively by fisheries scientists across Australia. Almost one hundred (93) of Australia’s fisheries scientists were responsible for producing the eighty three species Reports, with a further fifty (52) fisheries scientists anonymously reviewing them.

Well managed
The Status Reports show Australia’s fish stocks are well managed and the majority of stocks are healthy.

More species
In 2016 - fifteen new species were added to the Reports, taking total species to eighty three. Some are iconic and some have a chequered past.

Prawns get top sustainable marks
Australia has a lot of prawns stocks and the best part almost all of them are sustainable!

Gummy shark or flake?
Either is good and the majority of stock production is sustainable to eat.
